Summer Scouting Report: Arizona State CB Keith Abney II

Let’s start getting some 2026 NFL Draft summer scouting reports up on the site! And today, we start with Arizona State cornerback Keith Abney II.

Abney II is entering his second season as the starting cornerback with the Sun Devils after a stellar sophomore season. The young cornerback first caught my eye when I was scouting Texas (now Green Bay Packers) wide receiver Matthew Golden in the College Football Playoffs quarterfinals game.

I saw an instinctive and twitchy cornerback making plays at the catchpoint and flipping his hips to jump routes in zone coverage, and had to write his name down. He then became one of the first non-quarterbacks I have written up this Spring.

So let’s dive in! Here, we will give some background on Abney II, look at his strengths and weaknesses, and give him a grade heading into his true junior season in 2026.

About Keith Abney II

Height (listed): 5-foot-11

Weight (listed): 195 pounds

2024 stats: 14 starts, 52 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 9 passes defended

Keith Abney is a former 3-star recruit from Texas. He also ran track in high school with a personal best 11.13-second 100-meter dash. He was a two-way star in football, leading to the “ATH” designation as a recruit.

He chose Arizona State over Utah State (recommitted), Kansas State, Navy, Pitt, Boston College, and more Group of Five and FCS schools. He played as a special teamer with select defensive reps as a freshman in 2023 before taking over as the full-time starter in 2024. He is also a Sports Business major at Arizona State.
