Scouting Report: You're overthinking Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq

The surefire TE1 in the 2026 NFL Draft class, Kenyon Sadiq is a Day 1 player from a multitude of alignments.

The 2026 NFL Draft crop of tight ends is a shallow one. There is one name at the top in Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq, then a ton of mid-round role players.

I’ll have a positional rankings piece out later this week on this underwhelming tight end class, but today, we focus solely on the top dawg in the class.

Sadiq leapt onto the scene in 2024 (no pun intended) when he single-handedly destroyed the morale of Penn State in the playoffs with a two-touchdown performance. He took over the reins as the starting tight end in Eugene after Terrance Ferguson exited for the NFL and became a second round pick of the Los Angeles Rams.

In his one season as the starting tight end, a season Sadiq entered into already with first round buzz, he racked up 51 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns. While the production was a bit underwhelming on paper, Sadiq opted for the NFL, where he is still getting first round buzz.

Is the hype warranted for Sadiq, however?

Yes. And here is why.

Injury History

Sadiq was injured during Oregon’s win over Rutgers on a diving catch in the endzone. He missed the following game in Oregon’s win over Iowa.

Head coach Dan Lanning stated that Sadiq was dealing with the “lingering” effect of that injury throughout the rest of the season. Oregon did not disclose what the injury actually was.
