Scouting Report: Ethan Davis is set up to be a massive riser in the TE class
Don't be late to the Ethan Davis bandwagon!
Moving deeper into summer scouting, we take a look at a sleeper with the chance to burst onto the scenes and boost their 2027 NFL Draft stock. Tennessee tight end Ethan Davis was on my radar at the end of last season, and now I’ve had the chance to watch him and break him down.
James Foster (@NoFlagsFilm) and I have already covered the tight end class in summer scouting on the Daft on Draft Podcast, and you can find those episodes below:
Episode 1: How to scout tight ends
Episode 2: Summer scouting Trey’Dez Green, Jamari Johnson, and DJ Vonnahme
Episode 3: Summer scouting Terrance Carter Jr., Benjamin Brahmer, and Luke Reynolds
As you can see, Davis is not one of the tight ends that we were able to cover. However, he is better than the majority of the tight ends we covered, so that makes him the perfect candidate for a scouting report here.
So, what makes Davis such a threat to take a massive leap with the Volunteers in 2026? I’ve got thoughts.

Injury History
In high school, Davis suffered a right labrum injury that required surgery. He then left the Spring game the following year as a freshman at Tennessee after landing on his left shoulder, but fully recovered by the start of fall camp.
Davis suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury in 2025, forcing him to miss four games for the Volunteers. His health in 2026 will be a key element of his 2026 NFL Draft profile; if he can stay healthy, he is in for a big season.
Scouting Notebook: The Brendan Sorsby of it all...
Former Cincinnati and the short-lived Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby is officially seeking entry into the Supplemental Draft.
