Scouting Report: Does the tape match the first round hype for Omar Cooper Jr.?
The Indiana standout is getting first round buzz, so let's find out if the tape matches the hype
Coming out of the NFL Combine and leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft, one player receiving a ton of potential “first round lock” love is Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
A nightmare for opposing defenses in 2025, Cooper Jr. racked up 937 yards and 13 touchdowns on 69 catches from Heisman Trophy winner and likely No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. This included the game-winning touchdown grab against Penn State that saved Indiana’s perfect season, and a team-leading 71 yards on five catches in the National Championship against Miami.
He is going to be the first Indiana receiver drafted this year, potentially two rounds ahead of his teammate, Elijah Sarratt. However, the question we have to put under the microscope is: Does the profile hold up to that of a top-32 player in this year’s draft class?
So, let’s take a look at his 2026 NFL Draft scouting profile with just under two months to go until the main event:
