Daft on Draft

Where Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore rank among first round QBs in the last five years

So much is being made about this 2026 NFL Draft quarterback class, but what's the honest assessment of Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore among first rounders of years past?

I’ve continued to hear that this 2026 NFL Draft class of quarterbacks, headlined by Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Oregon’s Dante Moore, is not a promising one.

And I’ve had enough.

Sure, perhaps the depth of the class isn’t good. However, at the top? There is so much to love about both Mendoza and Moore. So, to re-level-set some expectations of these two Big Ten quarterbacks as prospects, let’s frame them in the same breath as first rounders past.

Without going back too far into history, we’ll set the timeframe back to 2022, the last five draft classes.

Setting some ground rules here: No hindsight analysis here. I am using the draft grades I had for these players at the time they were prospects. I am also only ranking Mendoza and Moore among the other quarterbacks that I had first round grades on. I’ll piece out the rest.

So, if every first round quarterback in the last five years were in the same draft class, where would I slide Mendoza and Moore in at?
