Weighted On-Target Percentage: Just how high is Garrett Nussmeier's ceiling?

It’s hard to find the temperature on LSU’s quarterback Garrett Nussmeier ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

A year ago, Nussmeier threw for over 4,000 yards for the Tigers, racking up 29 touchdown passes, but also 12 interceptions. Some analysts love him, some don’t see it at all, and some rest in the middle of the road.

So what do I think of him? That conversation starts with his ball placement and accuracy profile, using my metric, Weighted On-Target Percentage, to stack him up against the rest of the class.

So that’s what we are going to do here.

Thus far, I have already written up four Weighted On-Target Percentage profiles, and those can be found below:

  • South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers

  • Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza

  • Michigan State’s Aidan Chiles

  • Penn State’s Drew Allar

  • Clemson’s Cade Klubnik

What are the strengths of Nussmeier’s game, where can he improve (and how much room does he have to get better), and what does his ball placement and accuracy profile look like heading into his Redshirt Junior season?

Let’s talk about it.
