Weighted On-Target Percentage: Are we sleeping on Texas Tech's Behren Morton?
Share

Texas Tech spent a ton of money to upgrade their roster heading into the 2025 season. The one position they didn’t pursue in the transfer portal? Quarterback.

2026 NFL Draft hopeful Behren Morton came a long way and showed linear growth with the Red Raiders a year ago. He finished the 2024 season with a statline of over 3,300 yards passing, 27 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

He is now set to lead one of the highest-paid rosters in college football. Is he up for the task? What does his ball placement and accuracy profile indicate about his chances entering his final season of eligibility?

This is where his Weighted On-Target Percentage profile comes in. Like many other quarterbacks in this class, I have watched and charted an eight-game sample size this summer on Morton to get a better feel for his game.

Here are the other Weighted On-Target Percentage profiles completed to this point in the offseason:

  • South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers

  • Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza

  • Michigan State’s Aidan Chiles

  • Penn State’s Drew Allar

  • Clemson’s Cade Klubnik

  • LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier

  • Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson

  • Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt

So let’s dive into Morton’s profile, what there is to like, what needs improvement, and where he stands entering the 2025 season.
