Weighted On-Target Percentage: What is left for Carson Beck to salvage?
After a rough 2024 season, will a change of scenery help Carson Beck get back into the good graces of the NFL and boost his 2026 NFL Draft stock?
To say the 2024 season did not go as planned for Carson Beck is an understatement.
Then, at the University of Georgia, Beck was being mocked as the first quarterback off the board and, in many cases, the top pick. Now, one year later, Beck is entering his sixth season of college football as a 2026 NFL Draft afterthought and looking to pick up the pieces at the University of Miami.
Throwing for just under 3,500 yards and 28 touchdowns with the Bulldogs a year ago, Beck also threw a career-high 12 interceptions. This was double the number he threw the year prior, and his completion percentage dipped by 8 percent as well.
As I’ve frequently discussed, however, completion percentage is not a true metric of accuracy. However, my metric, Weighted On-Target Percentage, seems to hit the mark (I hope) on a more consistent basis. So that will take up the bulk of our conversation on Beck, seeking to find out just what his ball placement and accuracy profile looks like from a rough 2024 campaign.
Here are the other Weighted On-Target Percentage profiles completed to this point in the offseason:
So exactly what is left for Beck to salvage of his 2026 NFL Draft profile as he wraps up his college career in South Beach? As my son’s favorite pup from Paw Patrol, Zuma, says: Let’s dive in.
